Policy memo: Use of state-run Covid-19 molecular rapid test surveillance programs during the vaccine rollout period

This policy memo advises the use of state-run Covid-19 molecular rapid test surveillance programs during the vaccine rollout period. I use a variety of modeling studies and test sensitivity data to draw conclusions. A key aspect to this piece is the rebranding of the rapid test and providing a better understanding of its limitation.
This policy memo was written for HPAM 7010 Health Policy and Management. This paper is pretty lengthy, so I have included an excerpt below
This piece showcases my ability to:
- Translate complex concepts to a general audience
- Use concise and clear language
- Thoroughly analyze literature and make a recommendation based on findings
I wrote this piece while working for the Health Department during the covid-19 pandemic. During my time there I saw a lot of misinformation about test sensitivity and usage. I found I had a different view on rapid tests than my colleagues and wanted to explore the literature that has been published to back up my conclusion.
Press Release: COVID-19 testing; Success Lies in Frequency, Accessibility, and Turnaround Time.
This press release explains the usage of molecular rapid test surveillance programs. A preface for the policy memo above, this press release explains the benefits of a rapid test surveillance system and the work of Larremore et al. in this modeling study.

This piece showcases my ability to:
- Understand the conclusions and limitations of modeling studies
- Explain complex topics for a general auidence
- Interpret findings and apply them to real life scenarios
Similar to the policy memo above, I wrote this piece while working for the Health Department during the covid-19 pandemic. Test sensitivity, rapid test stigma, and general misinformation was a common problem I ran into. I wrote this piece as a way to explain the possibility is such a complex idea to the general public.

Infographic: Return to Work after COVID-19 Infection, Non-Healthcare Personnel

This infographic was done over the summer when the Covid-19 pandemic was still fresh and confusing. Many people were under the impression they needed to retest in order to return to work. My background knowledge about test sensitivity helped me clearly communicate return to work guidance in a clear and effective way.

This piece showcases my ability to:
- Use my graphic design skills and experience
- Communicate CDC guidance to a general guidance
- Incorporate both CDC and GA Department of Public Guidance in one deliverable.
You may be able to sense a theme, I am very interested in test sensitivity and the testing implications on the Covid-19 pandemic. I find myself explaining these ideas to a lot of people, and decided to adapt it to a visual form.
